According to Cadena SER (h/t Daily Mail), Real Madrid loanee Achraf Hakimi is unclear as to where his future lies following an impressive spell at Borussia Dortmund.
The 21-year-old Moroccan has an impressive 7 goals and 10 assists in 37 appearances for the Bundesliga giants this season. Primarily a right-back, he is also capable of playing at left-back and also as a winger.
The winner of the CAF Youth Player of the Year for the last two years, Hakimi is one of the most exciting young defenders in the game today.
With his two-year loan deal at the Signal Iduna Park coming to an end, a number of Europe’s top teams are keen on making a move for the player.
Apart from us, Arsenal, Tottenham, Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are all keeping tabs on Hakimi. Real manager Zinedine Zidane is a fan of the young Moroccan and is keen to keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu. (h/t Daily Mail)
Chelsea target Hakimi is revelling in the success that he has had and opened up on interest from other clubs.
“Who does not like it? I am proud of what I am doing”
He revealed that he has not yet made a decision on his future and will wait till June to do so. He admitted that he has not heard from Real Madrid regarding the issue, but expects it to be resolved soon.
“In June I will have to make a decision and it will be a great step for my career.”
Zidane intends to talk to the player at the end of the season. According to the report, Hakimi is not keen to stay on at Real as Dani Carvajal’s backup.
The Spaniard is the undisputed starter in his position at Real and it remains to be seen how the Spanish giants handle it.
He will not be short of suitors though and Borussia Dortmund are keen to sign him on a permanent basis. He has two more years left on his contract at Real, giving the La Liga giants enough leeway in negotiations.
Chelsea already have Cesar Azpilicueta and the upcoming Reece James at right-back. Signing Hakimi would make sense considering he can also play left-back.
Hakimi was a part of the Real Madrid side that won the UEFA Champions League in 2018.
A full international for Morocco, he has already won 28 caps for his country and scored two goals. He was a part of the Moroccan squad for the 2018 World Cup.
