Timo Werner taking English lessons with Chelsea keen
According to Bleacher Report (h/t Mirror), RB Leipzig superstar Timo Werner has been taking English lessons with a move to the Premier League on the cards.
The Blues have been heavily linked with the prolific 24-year-old who has led the Leipzig side with aplomb this season. Werner has made quite the impact this season as his goals have kept Leipzig within touching distance of Bayern Munich in the title race.
The prolific forward has lit up the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig, scoring 27 goals and providing 12 assists in 36 appearances this season.
With Oliver Giroud seemingly on his way to Inter and Michy Batshuayi’s future far from clear, Tammy Abraham will be the only senior striker in the Chelsea squad.
An injury to the striker could throw us off balance, making an addition for the position a priority.
The fact that he is learning English could be a promising sign for us. The news will also come as a blow for Barcelona and Bayern Munich, both of who were keen on signing the player.
The biggest threat to us will come from arch-rivals Liverpool. Werner’s feelings on the matter are clear considering his public comments in favour of Liverpool.
Frank Lampard is keen to bring in striking cover especially after missing out on Lyon’s Moussa Dembele and PSG’s Edinson Cavani in January. Werner is contracted at the Red Bull Arena until 2023 and has a £51m release clause that is active until the end of this month.
