Chelsea undecided on PSG youngster Ruiz Atil
According to French publication L’Equipe (h/t Football.london), Chelsea are yet undecided on making a move for talented PSG teenager Ruiz Atil.
The youngster moved to the Parc des Princes in 2015 from Barcelona amidst controversy. The Parisian club was accused of having made an illegal transfer, with the player’s father being offered employment.
The 17-year-old midfielder has a year left on his contract and is expected to leave the club in the next transfer window.
Apart from us, the player has also garnered interest from the likes of Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, and Marseille. Primarily a midfielder, he can also play in the attack if needed.
Atil is yet to make a senior appearance for the Parisians. He has won 11 caps for the Youth side in the UEFA Youth League over the last two seasons, scoring once.
According to the report, Chelsea have held talks with the player’s family. The Blues have, however, kept them waiting on their decision. Given the youngster’s suspicious move to Paris and Chelsea’s transfer ban last year, the Blues’ hesitation can be understood.
Another reason could be the rise of Billy Gilmour, who has enhanced his reputation considerably since the turn of the year.
Although midfield isn’t a position which Chelsea are keen on reinforcing, the 17-year-old could be well worth taking a punt on. With just a year to go on his contract, PSG will be keen to recoup what they can rather than lose him for free next summer.
The Blues already have a number of talents coming through and the first-team doors are open for advancement unlike never before.
