According to the Daily Star, Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is very happy in North London amidst links with Italian giants Juventus.
“I’m very happy here at Chelsea”
The 28-year-old moved to the Bridge last season for an initial fee of £50million. He was brought in by former boss Maurizio Sarri, who had managed him earlier at Napoli.
The Italian tactician has since joined Seri A giants Juventus. This has prompted talk of the player reuniting with Sarri for the third time. The 28-year-old has quashed the rumours and has claimed that his marked improvement is a sign of him continuing at the Bridge.
Jorginho has enjoyed a new lease of life at the Bridge under Frank Lampard. One of Chelsea’s senior players, he has made 37 appearances this season.
He does, however, miss his home country. Jorginho also admitted that in spite of his happiness in London, he misses the Italian atmosphere and cuisine. An understandable statement considering he spent all his life in Italy before moving to Chelsea.
His current contract runs until 2023. This gives us enough leeway in any transfer negotiations involving the player.
Although he made the most passes last season, one area where he was lacking was goal contributions. He has markedly improved on it this time around by more than tripling his goal tally while also garnering two assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Jorginho is a vastly experienced player who brings oodles of experience to our midfield. With a number of youngsters coming through at Chelsea, the presence of experienced heads is a must.
It becomes even more apparent considering Willian, Oliver Giroud and Pedro are all out of contract in the summer.
