FRANK lAMPARD Believes Chelsea ace Tammy Abraham deserves more credit

Tammy Abraham rejects new Chelsea contract offer

According to the Mirror (h/t Daily Mail), Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has rejected a contract offer from the club. He is believed to be demanding parity with the club’s highest earners before committing his future to the Blues.

The 22-year-old came through the Chelsea youth ranks and is enjoying a breakthrough season in the English Premier League. Abraham is the club’s top scorer this season with 15 goals, more than twice that of Willian in second place.

Despite a good start, he has scored only twice in his last 11 appearances for the club. This has, however, not dissuaded him from demanding his worth as he turned down the new contract.

Chelsea have been heavily reliant on Tammy Abraham for goals this season

The report goes on to say that Abraham is keen on signing a deal similar to the one signed by Callum Hudson-Odoi. The youngster signed a new deal, earning him £120,000-a-week last year.

The 22-year-old still has two years left on his current contract. Chelsea does have time to discuss fresh terms and will be keen to hold onto the player who has shown much promise this season.

Abraham has made 37 appearances for Chelsea so far and has scored 15 goals and six assists.

The striker is currently recovering from an ankle injury that has seen him miss the club’s last two matches.

Neither Oliver Giroud nor Michy Batshuayi has matched the 22-year-old’s scoring prowess and Frank Lampard will be keen to get his ace back fit as soon as possible.
