According to a report by Daily Express, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard wants to be given more time at the club to emulate Jurgen Klopp’s heroics at Liverpool.
The German gaffer took charge of the club in the most trying times and yet, he has managed to come out on top – quite literally.
The Reds have been a dominant force to reckon with over the last year, winning the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
Lampard is not wrong in his demands. After all, Liverpool displayed a lot of patience with Klopp since things were not always hunky-dory, especially in the initial stages. In fact, in his first season in charge, the Merseysiders finished 8th in the league.
There has been a lot of chopping and changing but finally, over the last year and a half, Liverpool have transformed themselves into one of the most feared teams in the world. And they only have Klopp to thank for that.
Lampard has insisted that following the Liverpool model should be the way forward for us as well.
We are currently embroiled in a tough battle for the fourth spot, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur hot on our heels. Although we have won only 2 out of our last 8 games, Lampard has done enough to warrant a patient approach.
It remains to be seen how things work out for Chelsea and Lampard but as of now, Roman Abramovich should stick to the player-turned-manager for the foreseeable future.
