According to a report by Italian publication Tuttosport (h/t Daily Mail), Chelsea star Willian’s family prefers to stay in London amidst interest from the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and now Juventus.
The Brazilian winger’s contract will expire at the end of the ongoing season, meaning he would be able to leave us for free. But considering the loyalty and impact he’s shown for us over the years, he deserves to sign a new deal.
Regardless, North London outfits Arsenal and Tottenham are both interested in securing his services (h/t Daily Mail). Since his family prefers to continue staying in London, the Premier League outfits might have an upper edge when compared to Juventus.
Despite spending seven years in West London, Willian is yet to agree on fresh terms with Chelsea.
The 31-year-old is keen on signing a three-year contract but our hierarchy is willing to only offer him a two-year deal, as per Daily Mail. Chelsea have a policy of not offering long-term contracts to players aged 30 and above, thus creating added turmoil.
Having scored 7 goals in 37 games across competitions this term, Willian has emerged as a transfer target for the Serie A giants as well. Although he has a frosty relationship with Maurizio Sarri (h/t Daily Mail), it looks like Juve are still interested in him.
It remains to be seen where he joins but let’s hope Chelsea are able to retain Willian’s services.
