Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso’s father has hinted at the player leaving the club in the summer transfer window, according to Sportwitness (h/t Football.London)
The 29-year-old has found opportunities hard to come by this season and looks set for a move abroad at the end of the season.
Alonso signed with Chelsea in 2016 from Fiorentina and has gone on to make 136 appearances, scoring an impressive 20 goals.
In spite of him having three more years to go on his Chelsea contract, he could be in line for a summer exit.
Speaking on his future, Alonso’s father was non-committal to his son continuing in London. He did, however, admit that Alonso loves Italy hinting at a return to the nation where he made his name.
” It doesn’t depend on him, but on the will of the English club. I can only say that my son loves Italy”
Alonso spent three seasons in Italy playing for Fiorentina. He made 85 appearances for the Viola in all competitions.
The Spaniard has made just 16 appearances this season. He has still managed to score two goals and two assists, including the winner against Tottenham last weekend.
The 29-year-old has won three major trophies at Chelsea and was named in the PFA Team of the Season for 2017/18.
