Chelsea will keep a close watch on Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech as Frank Lampard plans a summer overhaul of the squad. (h/t Telegraph)
The Blues had made an approach for the Moroccan midfielder in January but were rebuffed in their efforts, with Ajax adamant for the player to see out the season in the Netherlands (h/t Telegraph).
The Moroccan is seen as a cheaper alternative to Dortmund sensation Jadon Sancho (h/t Telegraph).
Sancho is expected to cost in the region of £100million. This is without taking into account the intense competition for his signature from the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City. (h/t Telegraph)
It can be argued that Sancho has more goals and assists than Ziyech. The Moroccan has roughly half of Sancho’s’ goals and trails the Englishman by one assist. However, Ziyech still averages a goal contribution per game and is, by no means, an ineffectual player.
Chelsea also need to sign a striker to ease the pressure on Tammy Abraham in the summer window.
