Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is keen on returning to Serie A after spending just a season at Stamford Bridge, according to Mirror UK.
The 27-year-old opted to play with his former manager Maurizio Sarri, thereby making his switch from Napoli to Premier League last summer.
Under Sarri, Jorginho became an undisputable starter and played a great role behind the Blues’ Europa League glory. Now, with the 60-year-old opting to become the new gaffer of Juventus, Jorginho looks to follow his long-time manager’s footsteps.
Elsewhere, Sarri is also eyeing a move for full-back Emerson Palmieri. Speaking about the Jorginho’s interests on returning to Italy, his manager Joao Santos said (h/t Mirror UK),
“Chelsea have a four-year contract with the lad. We’ll wait a few days to figure out whether there is any truth in this interest.
He also didn’t rule out the fact that Jorginho is very happy to stay put at Stamford Bridge.
“Right now, Jorginho is happy at Chelsea. He found a great atmosphere and we can’t really say that he’d like to go elsewhere, but anything can happen in the transfer market. We’ll wait and see”
Due to his cluster of wonderful performances, Jorginho eventually made it to the UEFA Europa League squad of the season. He recently played in Euro Qualifiers where Italy tops the Group J as of now.
Frank Lampard, the Derby County manager, turns out to be the frontrunner for the vacant manager job at Stamford Bridge.
The ex-Blues man fared well in his first ever managerial stint, leading the Rams to the Championship playoff final. Meanwhile, the Blues have been hit with a ban by FIFA for the next two transfer windows.
