Chelsea are eyeing a move for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele as they prepare to bolster their attacking prowess in the upcoming season, according to Metro.
And the French U-21 star is also watched by fellow Premier League clubs Manchester United and Liverpool.
Dembele, 22, has had a great impact on the Ligue 1 outfit since his move from Celtic last summer. He racked up 20 goals and 5 assists in the recently concluded season and played a pivotal role in his side finishing third in the table.
The former Fulham youngster’s heroics against PSG earlier this year was one of his memorable displays of the season. However, Les Gones are keen to not let go of Dembele as they can’t prevent other star players’ departure this summer.
The Londoners might have concluded the season by clinching the Europa League title but they can’t evade the fact that there is a lack of quality in the frontline.
Gonzalo Higuain, who was acquired from Juventus on a loan deal, turned out be a big debacle whereas Olivier Giroud couldn’t transfer his excellent Europa League form to the Premier League. Moreover, Alvaro Morata was out on loan at Atletico Madrid.
Given this, the Blues have to find a long-term solution up front and Dembele could be an ideal fit at Stamford Bridge. However, the Londoners are stuck with a transfer ban imposed by FIFA for the next two transfer windows, and have to overcome that in order to sign new players.
