Gonzalo Higuain’s Chelsea future hangs in the balance
According to a report from Daily Star UK, Chelsea owner Roman Abrahamovic is yet to make a clear decision about Gonzalo Higuain’s future.
The Argentine striker joined hands with his former manager Maurizio Sarri on a loan move from AC Milan. However, the 31-year-old showed real signs of sloppiness despite netting 5 goals in 13 matches.
He holds a release clause of €36m and the Blues are pondering a lot to trigger such a high price. However, they have an alternate option to secure him for half the price if it is only on loan extension. Moreover, the Blues’ appeal against the transfer ban has been rejected.
The former Napoli manager expressed his clear interest in keeping his Protégé for another season.
“I don’t know about Gonzalo Higuain’s future, you have to ask the club. If he’s staying then we can do very well in the next season.”
Even the former Juventus star said he was poised to become more successful in Premier league.
Higuain said, (h/t Daily Star UK)
“I came here and I wanted to stay. It’s a good city, you live well, and you can be relaxed but also enjoy yourself. I’m happy here. It’s always nice to try a new league and it’s my first taste of the Premier League.
Higuain recently announced his retirement from Argentina national team. The Blues acquired the services of Higuain soon after the exit of Alvaro Morata to Atletico Madrid on a loan deal.
The Spaniard striker has rejuvenated himself with the La Liga side, playing a huge role to finish second in the table. Morata has bagged an impressive seven-goal tally to his name.
