Callum Wilson is one of the strikers that Chelsea are interested in, according to the Mirror. The 26-year-old Bournemouth star will have a chance to impress against the Blues when they meet in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
The English striker has eight goals and five assists from just 16 Premier League games this season, and the report adds that a quality performance in midweek will enhance his chances of joining Chelsea in the winter window.
The report adds that the player is worth at least £35m, and his club won’t stop him from joining a top-six club.
Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola even let slip that Wilson is one of the players we are keeping a tab on (h/t Mirror):
“I’m sure that there are a lot players linked with us. Certainly Callum Wilson is doing very well for that club. He is of interest, not only for us but for many.”
The Englishman could be a decent option for us given that we are struggling with our current crop of strikers.
Alvaro Morata is misfiring in front of goal while Olivier Giroud can’t seem to score enough, despite linking well with our attack.
We have Michy Batshuayi struggling for goals at Valencia, and if we truly want to do well this season, a quality striker has to come in.
Wilson isn’t the biggest name being linked with us but his pace and physicality might work in our favour.
