Andreas Christensen is frustrated with his lack of playing time at Chelsea. The Danish star hasn’t featured in the Premier League this season, but has started in the Europa League and Carabao Cup.
Maurizio Sarri has preferred a central defensive pairing of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger in the league. The Dane made 23 Premier League starts last season and is desperate to play more.
Speaking to Danish outlet BT (h/t ESPN), the 22-year-old didn’t rule out a move away from the club too.
“It has been a difficult start to the season
“To be honest, it has been very difficult.
“I can’t stand having to have so much patience again. I’m 22 years old now and I really want to play. In the last three seasons I’ve played regularly for the teams I’ve been at, so of course I don’t see myself staying if my current situation remains the same in the future.”
The Dane wouldn’t say when he was going to move but understood that with the team playing well, it would be difficult to get in.
Chelsea have started the season on fire and are unbeaten in all competitions. The Blues are tied at the top of the Premier League with Manchester City and Liverpool and beat the Reds in the Carabao Cup at Anfield.
We have rotated the squad a lot in the Europa League and it seems Christensen will probably have to be content with the European and Cup games as Chelsea return to action after the international break.
