Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso has claimed that a new deal with the Blues could be on the way. The player was speaking to AS (h/t Calciomercato) and was quoted as saying:
“I am in talks to sign a new contract with Chelsea.
“I hope to finalize the deal by the end of the month.”
The report claims that the Spaniard’s contract ends in 2021 but his performances have convinced Chelsea to negotiate a new deal.
Alonso is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League and his dead-ball delivery is an asset for sure.
The former Fiorentina star has a couple of assists from eight games in the Premier League so far and has helped the Blues to an unbeaten start to the campaign.
The 27-year-old was linked with a move to Barcelona in the summer (h/t Calciomercato) but decided to stay put at Stamford Bridge.
Alonso is one of the key players at Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri and a number of fans were pleased about the possible contract extension for the left-back.
