John Terry is set to take over the U23 Chelsea team, according to the Sun. The former captain left the Blues to play with Aston Villa but missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season.
The report claims that the Englishman has agreed on a £800,000-a-year deal and will take up the role once he finishes his coaching badges.
Terry has been working on getting his UEFA badges since 2014 and the report adds that he would love to manage the Blues.
The report adds that Maurizio Sarri is behind the move to bring the ex-player back to Stamford Bridge.
A source was quoted by the Sun as saying:
“He has been in talks with the boss for the past few weeks and has verbally agreed the deal.
“It will only come to fruition though once he has finished his badges.
“An as-yet undecided manager will take over in the interim.”
The Englishman left Villa after failing to win promotion and the report adds that Terry refused a move to join Russian side Spartak Moscow.
The 37-year-old won numerous trophies with the Blues and if anyone knows Chelsea well, it is the Englishman.
We already have a former player in Gianfranco Zola as part of Sarri’s management team and the former defender’s return wouldn’t be a bad decision at all.

Frank Lampard is another former player who is already in management and Terry could succeed in this role since he has leadership qualities.
