“I do not exclude any possibility” – Chelsea striker uncertain about future at the club

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has claimed that his future would be resolved at the end of the season.

The Frenchman joined the Blues last season and lifted the World Cup with France. However, under new manager Maurizio Sarri, Giroud has been limited to a substitute’s role while Alvaro Morata has started all four Premier League games.

Football.london claims that Giroud was linked with moves to Atletico Madrid and Marseille in the summer window but he stayed at Stamford Bridge.

Despite the lack of starts, the Frenchman seemed calm about his contract situation but hasn’t ruled out any possibilities.

The 31-year-old was speaking to Telefoot (h/t Football.london) and was quoted as saying:

“I still have one year of contract, plus possibly another year.

“The management of the club was rather favourable to give it to me.

“I do not know yet, we will do the accounts in April-May, but I do not exclude any possibility.

“We’ll see.”

Alvaro Morata

Morata has a single goal to his name in the campaign while Giroud is yet to get off the mark. However, the Frenchman has made a great impact coming off the bench and he helped us to a 2-1 win over Newcastle United a couple of weeks ago.

The Frenchman also warned Morata about wanting to play more games after the international break. Should Giroud keep up the good work from the bench, he could usurp Morata as our No.1 striker despite being on the wrong side of 30.
