Eden Hazard was the nemesis for Liverpool again but Chelsea could not see out a second victory over the Reds in as many games. The Belgian scored a wonderful goal to clinch our Carabao Cup clash on Wednesday and produced a quality finish to give the Blues the lead in the first half of today’s game.
We countered Liverpool really well and only a couple of quality saves from Alisson kept the Reds from going further down. Liverpool had their chances but we coped with it well and seemed set to hand the Reds their first loss in the league this season.
However, old boy Daniel Sturridge came up with an unstoppable strike in the 89th minute to ensure the Reds left with a point.
The draw felt like a defeat given that we did so well for the entirety of the game and some fans were upset that we couldn’t seal the win.
