Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri regrets not signing his former player Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus.
The pair had been together at Napoli before Higuain joined the Old Lady and Football London claims that Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for the Argentine striker this summer.
However, the player ended up joining AC Milan on a one-year loan deal. Sarri seemed a little disappointed at being unable to nab the 30-year-old (h/t Football London).
The Italian manager was quoted by Sky Sports Italia (h/t Football.london) as saying:
“Higuain? It’s a little regret but in the end everyone after the market has a few little regrets.”
The Argentine striker had stated that he did not move to Stamford Bridge because only Sarri wanted him there. At Milan, however, everyone wanted the Argentine.
“Here at Milan everyone wanted me. That’s why I chose Milan. The motivation and conviction they showed at Milan was fundamental.”
Sarri did start with Alvaro Morata leading the line in our 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town but the Spaniard failed to get on the scoring sheet.
Chelsea have also allowed Michy Batshuayi to leave on loan, meaning our options at the top only feature Olivier Giroud as cover for Morata.

It will be interesting to see just how the Spanish striker performs under Sarri. However, not signing Higuain could be the chance that Morata needs to prove he is the right man for the job at the Bridge.
