Ruben Loftus-Cheek got a few minutes off the bench in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Huddersfield, however, Ian Wright wants the youngster to do everything he can and get into the starting XI at Stamford Bridge.
Loftus-Cheek was a part of the England side at the World Cup in Russia. The youngster impressed in his limited time for the Three Lions and Wright was speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Express) about the English youngster’s chances at Chelsea.
“I would love to see Loftus-Cheek to see if he can break into the first XI.
“He’s got to try and play.”
The former Arsenal man claimed Loftus-Cheek is too good to “sit” but added that there is some quality competition in the Blues squad.
“He’s too good to sit around.
“He’s now got to get Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic out of the way.”
Chelsea started with Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Ross Barkley against the Terriers and they added more quality by signing Mateo Kovacic on loan from Real Madrid.
Loftus-Cheek is one of the brightest players we have in our side and he needs more playing time this season.
The 22-year-old was a top performer for Crystal Palace last season as he helped them stave off relegation.
