“I don’t understand what’s going on behind the scenes fully” – Ruben Loftus-Cheek hits out at Antonio Conte

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has had a go at the management of the Blues and stated that he doesn’t understand what is going on behind the scenes as quoted by the Daily Star.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace and even after missing four months of the season due to an injury, he still managed to keep them in the Premier League.

The Englishman’s form even saw him earn a place in the England World Cup squad and Loftus-Cheek has actually done pretty well so far with an assist to his name in the competition.

Loftus-Cheek was quoted by the Daily Star as saying that it was difficult for him to play almost every game and then reach the ceiling with the seniors and not be given a chance.

“It’s really difficult mentally, there’s only so long you just enjoy training with top players.”

The 22-year-old also compared how Gareth Southgate, the England manager and his predecessor Roy Hodgson had given chances to young players but that was not the case with Antonio Conte.

“It’s hard to compare the faith of Gareth Southgate and Roy Hodgson and lack of Antonio Conte faith because Chelsea is a big club and managers are under pressure and maybe don’t want to take a chance on a young player.

“I don’t understand what’s going on behind the scenes fully.”

There is a lot of interest in Loftus-Cheek from a number of Premier League clubs and the player has even hinted that he would want to play more football next season.

Conte does look likely to leave the club this season and we should do all we can to keep Loftus-Cheek at the club and give him a chance to prove himself in the first-team rather than just loaning him out and not having a proper plan for the 22-year-old.
