Willian‘s move to Barcelona could take place because Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez want someone who can do well on the right-wing, according to football expert Ian McGarry.
The Chelsea winger has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge for a while now. Quoted by the Daily Star, McGarry was speaking to the Transfer Window Podcast when he said that the Catalan giants are the ones leading the race to sign the 29-year-old.
“Messi and Suarez have complained to coach Ernesto Valverde that they are weak on the right-hand side and need more creativity, someone who delivers the ball quickly into the centre of the pitch so they can do their thing.”
The expert also added that Willian would be a perfect player for the La Liga club.
He also went on to claim that he had spoken to people at Chelsea regarding the deal and that the Blues hierarchy are open to the prospect of selling the Brazilian. McGarry also cleared the air about Willian’s fee.
“The fee they hope to achieve would be around £70m – which in the current market I don’t think is too excessive, it might be a little bit extravagant.
“He could go for a little less, around £50m plus add-ons.”
The Brazilian has always given his all when playing for us and it would be a big loss for us should he end up at another club.

However, joining a non-Premier League club would soften the blow to most Chelsea fans and with Barcelona calling, it will be tough for Willian to say no.
