Maurizio Sarri is close to being named as the Chelsea manager according to the Express and the former Napoli man is set to bring in a number of fresh faces with a £140m transfer wish list. Chelsea would have to work quickly if they are to sign all the players that Sarri apparently wants.
The report claims that the Italian manager wants to start off with Dries Mertens and Elseid Hysaj of Napoli. The pair could cost £28m and £23m respectively as Sarri looks to raid his former employers.
The Italian also wants a few more players coming in from Italy, with Juventus defender Daniele Rugani on the radar. The deal could cost £20m.
To freshen up the midfield, the manager is looking at Inter Milan’s Matias Vecino, who could cost £19m, while Jean Michael Seri seems to be the final player of the midfield jigsaw. The Nice midfielder would cost £28m, so that is a lot of summer spending to be done by the Blues. The club also hope to sign Jose Callejon, also from Napoli, but face competition from Serie A giants AC Milan.
Looking at the list, almost every player does seem like a starter for the club and it will be fascinating to see if we can sign all of them before the end of the window.
As soon as Sarri comes in, there could be a number of transfers coming in and hopefully, we can get the players quickly.
Some of our rivals have already done their summer business and we cannot afford to waste any more time in bringing personnel into the club.
