Davide Zappacosta has been linked with a move to Inter Milan, according to Sky Sports (h/t The Metro) and the report also claims that the 26-year-old’s agent had met with Inter to thrash out a deal.
However, the Italian has now come out and stated that he does not have any idea of a move back to Italy and is concentrating on Chelsea for now.
The defender was quoted by the Metro as saying,
“I just want to have a great season, regardless of where I play. Inter? The interest is pleasing but I don’t know anything about it and I’m only thinking of Chelsea.”
Zappacosta was only signed from Torino at the start of last season on a four-year deal, however, we are willing to let go of the Italian for a fee of £17.5m.
The former Torino man played 22 Premier League games for us last season but only started 12 of them. Zappacosta also scored a couple of goals for us last season and had one assist to his name too.
While he might not have spilt all the beans on the reported interest from Inter, the Italian powerhouse might just pull the strings to make the deal happen.
Zappacosta didn’t really wow many at Chelsea and with us not really sure about who our manager would be, Inter could get the Italian.
The Serie A club also have one more advantage and that is participation in the Champions League, which we won’t be doing next season.
Losing Zappacosta would not be too big of a loss and as long as we get a quality sum into the coffers, not many might complain.
