Chelsea seem to be targetting Stefan Savic and will battle with Juventus for the signature of the Atletico Madrid defender, according to reports from Italy.
Sky Italia (h/t The Mirror) reports that the former Manchester City centre-back is wanted by the pair ahead of the coming season.
The Montenegro star has been a part of the Atletico Madrid side for the last three seasons and picked up the Europa League this time around.
The 27-year-old is reportedly keen on a transfer away from the La Liga side, with us looking to add more depth to the squad ahead of the season.
While Savic certainly has gotten better since his one season at Manchester City, it will be interesting to see if he goes directly into the starting XI or arrives as a cover for the likes of Gary Cahill and Antonio Rudiger.
Any player wanting to move away from Atletico would want to start more games and in all probability, the 27-year-old should be a sure shot starter for us given that we have struggled with Cahill and even David Luiz this season.
Of course, the 27-year-old knows the English conditions well, so that will be an added bonus should we sign him next season.
We also have Andreas Christensen, who should get more games next season too. So maybe, Savic and Christensen would be a decent pairing to have for a few seasons. Hopefully, we don’t pay over the top for the central defender.
