Maurizio Sarri could become the Chelsea manager in the next 24 hours. The Italian is set to replace Antonio Conte in the hot seat, according to The Daily Star.
The report claims that the former Napoli manager is ready to sign a two-year deal with us and will also have an option to sign on for a third season.
Sarri helped Napoli finish second in the Serie A as Juventus picked up yet another league title. However, the 59-year-old has been replaced by former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The report further states that Sarri wants to stay close to the Chelsea training ground, Cobham. Sarri will have a tough job at hand as he has to take us back into the top-four at the end of the season.
Missing out on Champions League spots under Antonio Conte was a huge issue and we cannot spend another year out of Europe’s elite club competition.
Although we have the Europa League to compete in, the Premier League should be our primary focus and if Sarri can do a similar job to what Conte did in his first season with us, we just might have something to celebrate at the end of the campaign.
Nevertheless, the 59-year-old must bring in a few players and revamp the Chelsea side. Hence, appointing him as the new manager should be done as quickly as possible so we can get on with our transfer business.
