Chelsea outcast frustrated at the lack of game time under Antonio Conte

West Ham boss David Moyes worked with Barkley at Everton
Ross Barkley

As per a report by The Sun, January arrival Ross Barkley is unhappy at his lack of game time with Chelsea so far. The former Everton midfielder moved to Stamford Bridge amidst a lot of expectations but since then, things have hardly gone according to plans.

One must bear in mind that he joined Chelsea at a time when he was struggling with an injury but even upon recovering, we have hardly seen Barkley feature for us.

In fact, he started just twice in the Premier League and it goes without saying that it has cost him a spot in England’s World Cup squad as well.

The Sun claims that Barkley is quite frustrated with the way the situation has turned out. The 24-year-old made the switch from Everton to nurse higher ambitions but since then, his development has taken a significant hit.

That is unfortunate since Barkley boasted of immense talent and potential prior to his hamstring injury. An attacking midfielder by trade, Barkley worked his magic with Everton and he was undoubtedly a key player for the Merseyside outfit.

Despite being faced with the prospect of relegation, Everton managed to turn things around under Sam Allardyce’s guidance but Barkley’s loss continues to affect them. Perhaps the move happened at the wrong time but considering we paid £15million for him, it must be admitted that Chelsea have hardly reaped the benefits.

Nevertheless, next season will be crucial for Barkley. He must be given a chance to prove himself, irrespective of who our manager is. If he disappoints again, perhaps we should look for options elsewhere.
