As per a report from the Times, Chelsea could be in line to make a sensational swoop this summer. The report claims that the Blues are one of the Premier League clubs interested in a move for Napoli midfielder Jorginho. If we play our cards right, we could also land Maurizio Sarri.
Napoli have earned rave reviews for their performances throughout this season. Although the entire team has performed admirably, credits must go to Sarri. The manager has been absolutely exceptional this term and he managed to bring the Naples-based outfit quite close to claiming the Serie A title as well.
Unfortunately, they fell short at the last minute and Juventus went on to win the title yet again. However, that does not undermine Sarri’s capability and he could really work wonders with an owner whose pockets are as deep as Roman Abramovich.
Depending on whether or not we continue with Antonio Conte, it will be interesting to see how things fare with Sarri and landing Jorginho would undoubtedly be the cherry on top.
The midfield engine has been a hot target for clubs across Europe and a player like him could elevate Chelsea to the next level. We have lacked the services of a deep creative outlet this season and the likes of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud can benefit from Jorginho’s presence.
That said, landing either of these two Napoli members will be quite tough. Sarri and Jorginho have both earned themselves a number of admirers and it remains to be seen if we have the financial strength and willpower to make this happen.
