N’Golo Kante has told the Evening Standard that he feels ‘at home’ at Chelsea and is least interested in leaving Stamford Bridge to join French giants Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.
The diminutive Frenchman has forged a reputation for being one of the hardest working midfielders in the Premier League since his arrival in 2015. He helped Leicester City pull off a fairytale title triumph in 2015/16 before joining Chelsea next season and repeating his league-winning heroics with us in 2016/17.
However, the Blues have failed to defend their title and are currently struggling to secure a top-four finish in the league, currently sitting five points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham. The Evening Standard claims PSG are hoping to capitalise on the wobbly situation but Kante insists that he is fine at Chelsea.
He was quoted by Evening Standard as saying,
“I am at home. It is my club, I am a Chelsea player.
“This is my second year at Chelsea. After what happened last season, it was a very good one for us because we got to celebrate winning the title.
“In the second season, I have got to play in the Champions League and we are going again to finish in the top four.
“We will fight until the end to finish in the top four and to get in a Champions League position.
“We also have the FA Cup to play for – it is a good competition. Last season we failed in the final. It is the only trophy we can win this season, so we have to give everything to get to the final and win it.”
Kante has become a fan favourite at Chelsea since arriving from Leicester City in the summer of 2016. In addition to guiding the club to Premier League title last season, the France international was voted PFA Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year for his incredible performances in the heart of the Chelsea midfield.
The Evening Standard earlier this month revealed that the 26-year-old was not keen to leave Stamford Bridge to return to his homeland, where he previously played for Boulogne and Caen. The France international has three years left to run on his contract, which is worth around £150,000-a-week and the Evening Standard adds that Chelsea are not willing to sell him.
