Giroud to lead the line, Fabregas starts – Predicted 3-4-3 Chelsea XI to face Tottenham

Predicted Chelsea Lineup To Face Tottenham In The Premier League

Chelsea are back in Premier League action this weekend as they host Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge.

The year 2018 hasn’t been a good one for the Blues as we have struggled significantly in the league. While we find ourselves in the FA Cup semi-finals, where Antonio Conte’s men play Southampton next month, the results in the Premier League haven’t gone our way and that has currently jeopardised our top-four hopes.

Chelsea are placed fifth in the table, five points behind Tottenham who haven’t won at Stamford Bridge since 1990.

Team News

Thibaut Courtois joined the Belgium national team during the international break but was sent back to Chelsea due to fitness issues. However, despite fitness concerns, the Belgian is expected to be fit in time to face Spurs.

Andreas Christensen, who was called up by Denmark but was sent back to our club due to fatigue, is a doubt for the game.

Ross Barkley continues to be sidelined, while David Luiz could return to the bench. Ethan Ampadu is expected to miss the rest of the season after fracturing his ankle.

Probable Chelsea XI

Formation: 3-4-3

Manager: Antonio Conte

Thibaut Courtois (GK)

Courtois is Chelsea’s undisputed No.1. Let’s hope he attains full fitness ahead of the game.

Cesar Azpilicueta (RCB)

Azpilicueta is probably the most consistent defender we have and he should start the game against Spurs.

Gary Cahill (CB)

With Christensen’s availability being a doubt for the game, Cahill is expected to take his place in central defence.

Antonio Rudiger (LCB)

Rudiger has blown hot and cold since signing from Roma last summer and needs to put in more assured displays.

Victor Moses (RWB)

Moses offers a different threat in the attack when compared to Zappacosta. Given that we are playing at home, Conte might want Moses to attack the Tottenham defence.

Marcos Alonso (LWB)

Alonso has been a consistent performer for the Blues since joining the club last season. He is a sure starter.

N’Golo Kante (CM)

Kante does the dirty work for the Blues, with ease and poise. His presence at the base of the midfield is so important that Chelsea clearly lack the bite and energy in the midfield during his absence.

Cesc Fabregas (CM)

Fabregas’ performances have dipped of late. The Spaniard’s guile and incisive passing will be needed against Spurs as we need to pick up three points at home.

Eden Hazard (LW)

Hazard often orchestrates Chelsea’s attacks, making the team look like a dominant force. His direct running and quick thinking would be crucial on Sunday.

Willian (RW)

Willian has been Chelsea’s best player in 2018. The winger looks threatening whenever he possesses the ball.

Olivier Giroud (ST)

Leading Chelsea’s attack against Spurs should be Giroud. The Frenchman has not got off to a great start at the club but has shown glimpses of his old self.
