Chelsea could replace potential £200,000-a-week star with Manchester City outcast – reports

Joe Hart

Things have not been going our way for a while and it could get a lot worse after the 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford. Thibaut Courtois did give a penalty away in the game and now The Sun claims that we could replace the Belgian with Joe Hart!

The report claims that Courtois has only one year left on his contract and could be interested in moving to Spanish giants Real Madrid as the club were linked with the 25-year-old earlier. There are also fears that he will reject a contract with the club and move on a free transfer. However, we have begun talks of extending his stay at Stamford Bridge in a deal worth £200,000-a-week.

That might not be enough to keep hold of the star, even though he has played for arch-rival Atletico Madrid in his career. Real have been looking for a new goalkeeper and have targeted both Courtois and David de Gea as possible replacements for Keylor Navas.

To replace the star keeper, we could be looking at Joe Hart, which seems a bit ridiculous given that the Englishman has struggled to perform since last season. He was sent out on loan to Torino last year and has been sent to West Ham this time around. His time at the London Stadium has not worked out and the Manchester City loanee has been replaced in the starting XI by Adrian.

No Way For Hart To Join

The rumour does seem to be extremely out of place given that we have had a number of run-ins regarding our transfers under Antonio Conte and it seems highly unlikely that we would be looking to sign Hart, even if Manchester City allow him to join any club that he wishes to.

Hart might be a cheap option to have but it would be better for us to try our luck in the market and get a young player into the club. The last thing we need is another old head in the team when things have clearly not been working for us all season.

The Englishman could come to the club in the summer window but this deal just won’t happen, unless someone really makes a mess or something. I expect a lot of changes in the Chelsea team before and after the World Cup, and Hart should not be in our plans at all.
