The clash of the weekend has to be the one between Liverpool and Chelsea with both teams trying to keep up with pace-setters Manchester City.
The two sides did take part in European games in the midweek but it should be us who should have the momentum given our resounding win over Qarabag. The Blues might have one day less to prepare for the game at Anfield but we will be bolstered by the fact that we were able to rest Eden Hazard early in the Champions League game.
Liverpool did what they do best against Sevilla, as they walloped the Spanish side before letting a three-goal lead slip to end up with just one point from the game.
The Reds do have a bit of an advantage as we haven’t beaten them in 3 years but with Hazard and Alvaro Morata in form, Anfield could be another three points for us.
Hazard was given an early night in the game against Qarabag and should be starting against the Reds. We also rested Morata and Bakayoko for the trip in midweek and the pair should start against the home side too.
Courtois should start between the sticks as he seems to be doing well at the moment. He isn’t making too many errors.
The youngster has been impressive for us and even though he is not as experienced as some of the other defenders, he should start against the Reds.
David Luiz might have had a fallout with Antonio Conte a couple of weeks ago but the Brazilian should still make it to the first-team to take on the Reds.
Cahill was rested in the away trip against Qarabag and even though he isn’t in the best of form, his experience should ensure that he starts in the game against the Reds.
Kante did play for around 75 minutes in the game against Qarabag but his defensive ability should be able to keep the Liverpool midfield in check, especially Philippe Coutinho.
Another player who was rested for the game against Qarabag, we would require Bakayoko to do a similar job to Kante’s while also providing support to our attacking players.
Azpi should play as one of the wing-backs given that he can deal with the attacking trio of Liverpool. I doubt if he would advance up the field too much, given that the Liverpool attackers have a lot of pace.
The left-back has been one of the bright spots for us this season and should keep his place in the starting XI against Liverpool.
A tough one to call given that Pedro and Willian did do a decent job at Qarabag but Fabregas and his passing ability should just make it into the starting XI against the Reds.
Hazard has found his scoring boots in recent weeks and will have a field day against the Liverpool defence, who are often at sixes and sevens.
The Spaniard was rested in the win over Qarabag and would be looking to link up with Hazard to cause Liverpool a lot of problems, especially to their shaky defence.
