Three Worst Chelsea Players So Far This Season, Including This World Class Belgian – Agreed?

When Chelsea were one of the three teams in the Premier league who made the 100% start to the season, there were some sceptics claimed that the blues have not faced any top opposition yet. However, Chelsea were seen as being sufficiently strong across the pitch after having spent more than £100 million in the transfer window. Antonio Conte also showed the kind of tactical nous required to win games late on but the first big test for the club was seen as the home match against Liverpool. They failed so miserably in the game as many players failed to deliver the promises that they were supposed to do.

Chelsea, so far, has played one draw and have ben defeated once, so here we analyze who have been the worst players for the Blues:

  1. Thibaut Courtois

The Belgian keeper was a major factor in Chelsea selling Petr Cech to Arsenal even though the Czech shot-stopper had given more than a decade of stable service. Courtois, being the younger option of the two, made more sense two years ago. However, the 24-year-old has been going through a wobbly patch for quite a while. The clean sheet against Burnley a couple of weeks ago was his first since the 4-0 win over Aston Villa back in April of last season. Courtois made a couple of mistakes, although without any direct impact, even in the game against Liverpool.

  1. Pedro

The former Barcelona winger has never been a first-team regular since his £22 million move from Spain, even though he scored on his debut. Part of the reason is the little quality from the Spaniard in attacking positions. He has the pace and skills to get away from players, but he lacks the end product and that means hr has been a major disappointment so far. If he had been a quality alternative, Antonio Conte would have had the chance to drop Willian or Oscar.

  1. Gary Cahill

Cahill has always been seen as a no-nonsense defender especially since he started playing alongside John Terry. He has been a safe pair of hands while also offering the team with something in attack. Yet, Cahill has suffered from an alarming dip in form over the last 12 months. He has not been the only player to suffer consequences of Chelsea’s worst season in recent memory, but it looks like he has not been able to bounce back like the rest. Cahill has directly been involved in two mistakes, although the referee is also at fault for the goal against Swansea, over the last two games and it has already cost Chelsea a lot.
