Why Chelsea Still Need A Wow Signing To Compete With The Manchester Clubs

Why Chelsea need a World-class singing to compete with Manchester United and Manchester City?

It is no secret that the next campaign of the Premier League is going to be a classic rumble. The arrival of some top class managers and marquee players have set the tone of the competition up high and now, it is very difficult to predict what will happen next. Almost all the clubs are in the market to strengthen their squad and so are Chelsea.

The new manager hasn’t made many signings till date, yet he has filled the most important void in the team. Very firstly, he bought West Ham United’s priority target Michy Batshuayi from Marseille and then ex- Leicester midfield enforcer N’Golo Kante. But is that it?

Well, I don’t think so! There are still many positions where the side needs an upgrade and we are pretty sure that the Italian manager is working on the prospect. No major outgoings from the Stamford Bridge so far, but many reports are suggesting that the Spanish side Atletico Madrid are trying everything they can to resign Diego Costa, but Antonio Conte has made himself very clear that he has no intentions of letting the Brazilian-born Spanish attacker leave.

There is no doubt that Chelsea have done decent transfers, but looking at what others did, the Blues have failed to make any breathtaking signings. Talking ab,out Manchester clubs, then the red half have signed two stellar names this summer, namely, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan and centre back Eric Bailly as well.

On the other hand, the blue half have completed the signing of Nolito, Gundogan, Sane, Stones, Jesus, and Oleksandr Zinchenko. As stated earlier, the next campaign of the league will be a real battleground and hence, the Italian manager will have to reinforce his battalion to compete for the honour.

It is safe to say that Chelsea’s defence last season was one of the slowest in the league; hence, what they primarily need is a young and dynamic centre back. Terry is losing his shape year after year and besides him, Branislav Ivanovic is becoming an enemy number one for the fans. With Zouma still recovering from his injury, a centre-back is needed and as a long term solution.

Besides that, what we have observed from the past couple of years is; Chelsea are losing their hold on the left side of the pitch. Both Filipe Luis and Baba Rahman have failed to fill the shoes of Ashley Cole and since then, no concrete option has been found. Chelsea have signed a striker and a midfielder, that is a great sign, but what they still need to strengthen the defence, because you can score goals, but if your team cannot defend, you will get nothing out of it.

They also need a captain figure because let’s face it, it is hard to imagine Terry playing every single game of the season. Probably an experienced defender can solve both the defensive and lack of leadership issues.

Some stellar names in these positions are an urgency for the team and only after that, we can expect to see the Blues battling for the honour against the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and others.
