After some mixed pre-season games, the London side are now getting ready for their opening game of the new league season. It is very much obvious that we cannot expect instant results from the side, as the players will be taking some time to get used to their manager’s tactics.
In the entire campaign last season, the Blues usually played a 4-2-3-1 formation and in the pre-season games, the new manager Antonio Conte majorly used 4-2-4 formation which included two strikers and two wingers.
The Blues faced a torrid time last season as they failed badly to defend their Premier League crown and also saw the sacking of their Special One; Jose Mourinho, but now with a new man at the helm, some great things are expected. The former Italy manager, Antonio Conte, has done wonders in Serie A, but it is safe to say that this will be his toughest job of the career as we all are aware of the fact that how competitive Premier League is.
The manager so far has signed two players namely, Michy Batshuayi and N’Golo Kante, but to be honest, the need more reinforcement if they tend to go for the honour in Conte’s first season in charge. It is no secret that the next campaign of the Premier League will be going to be the toughest encounter, hence, every single game will play a big role in title pursuit.
Can Chelsea win the Premier league title? Well, that’s a big question to ask, but we have three reasons to prove the statement:
The first and utmost reason for the excitement is the arrival of the new gaffer, Antonio Conte. The Italian manager, who became the club’s fifth Italian manager after Gianluca Vialli, Claudio Ranieri, Carlo Ancelotti and Roberto Di Matteo, will be looking forward to work with the lads and given his fantastic domestic record, it is safe to say that the team has got the perfect man for the job.
Conte is known for his intense style of play which requires a lot of stamina, but this could be the one that could work wonders for the team. Premier League requires a high pressing game to succeed, hence, Conte’s plans work really well with the London club.
Well, this is the thing which has hurt most of the fans, but this can actually act as a blessing in disguise. With no extra games to play, the team and the manager could solely concentrate on the league and hence, that will increase their chances to win the games. Yes, the first task for the manager would be to bring the side back on to the winning ways, but simultaneously, he will have to work on the winning prospect as well.
With no Champions League games to play, the players will get some extra rest and that will avoid the excessive fatigue in the Premier League games, hence, less injury concern. Like I said, the players can ensure their concentration on the league and go all out to win the league.
After a horrifying season, not just the board, but also the players will be looking to prove their worth to the new manager and most importantly, they need to show their desire to the fans, who have been supporting the club through thick and thin. Yes, many players need to revise their game as they were nowhere near their best, and the next campaign could be the best venue to do so.
As I said before, there will be no European football, hence, the players can solely work on how to bring the title back at the Stamford Bridge and if the things go exactly as planned, who knows, we might see the Blues lifting the trophy for the second time in three years.
