Chelsea boss Antonio Conte did not have a satisfactory summer transfer window having brought in only two new players in the squad. Further, getting snubbed by the former Chelsea player Romelu Lukaku and things not going smoothly where Kalidou Koulibaly’s move to the Bridge is concerned, is not helping the Italian manager.
The Blues are on the market for a centre-back this summer and as things are not going as planned where Kalidou Koulibaly is concerned, Chelsea manager has turned to Italy in his search for an alternative to sign as Koulibaly is reportedly ready to sign a new contract at Napoli.
Thus to remedy the situation the Blues manager has identified Alessio Romagnoli whom he would like to bring to the Bridge so as to fill the vacant spot of a centre-back.
While this would make sense considering the player’s ability and age, Conte has hinted not being the biggest fan of Romagnoli in the past, mostly when he decided to leave him out of his Italy squad for the 2016 Euros, choosing Daniele Rugani instead who played half the amount of games last season.
The Blues have already tabled a bid of €35m, however, reports suggest that AC Milan have rejected the offer for the player stating that the player is not for sale.
