Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel has many clubs looking out to sign him this summer and it has been a while since Chelsea joined the race to bring him into the Stamford Bridge and if reports are to be believed then the Blues are set to sign the player this summer.
According to the Sun, Chelsea have now turned into favorites in signing the player and have hijacked Everton’s deal. Reports suggest that Chelsea are closing in on the player’s move to the Stamford Bridge after Antonio Conte reportedly made a more decisive offer to the Russian club.
The Blues are close to come to an agreement on the terms with Witsel’s agent and the only thing standing on the way of the deal is the total transfer fee as Petersburg got the 27 year old player on their squad in a deal worth £32m in 2012.
Witsel’s arrival at Chelsea will put Nemanja Matic’ s future at the Blues uncertain. If he comes to Chelsea then Nemanja Matic, 27, could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.
