Chelsea have been on the lookout for defenders this summer and so far the Blues are reportedly having trouble signing Kostas Manolas into the squad.
A week ago Manolas’ agent posted a twitter statement stating that his client will not be staying at Rome next season, reasoning that he has not been able to reach a new contract with Roma. At that time the player was valued at £25m, however after interest from some huge and wealthy clubs the player is now valued by AS Roma at £38 million.
“It’s true, I can confirm we have not agreed a contract renewal with Roma,” agent Iannis Evangelopoulos told laroma24.it.
“Could he reach it over the next few weeks? I doubt we will.”
According to the reports from the Goal, there are basically two reasons as to why AS have increased the rate. The first reason for the rise in price being the fact that the player’s former club Olympiakos is entitled to 50% of the player’s follow up transfer fee.
While the second reason for the price to be increased is the fact that Manolas’ partner on defense Antonio Rudiger’s injury, which has led the player to be out of action in the first half of the 2016-2017 campaign, and at this point Manolas leaving the team would be a hard punch for AS Roma to handle.
