Chelsea refused a last minute offer from Spanish side Celta Vigo for the Nigerian player Kenneth Omeruo, who plays as a centre-back for the Blues.
The 22 year old player is set to head to Turkish side Besiktas next season on a season long loan. The loan to Besiktas will be the player’s fourth loan deal after having spent time at ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough and Kasimpasa.
“Top officials said Celta Vigo tried to sign Omeruo this week on loan, but their interest was late in coming as Chelsea have already agreed with Besiktas on the player,” a source informed AfricanFootball.com.
The player who joined the Blues in a five year contract still has two years left with Chelsea. Omeruo moved to the Stamford Bridge in 2012 from Standard Leige and has been on loan stints since he landed at Chelsea at 19 years of age.
The Blues rejected Celta Vigo’s bid for the player as a deal for the player’s move to Besiktas has already been agreed upon between Chelsea and the Turkish club.
