The London side Chelsea is looking to bolster their squad in order to compete for the top honour next season. And for the task, they have appointed the Italian gaffer Antonio Conte. Looking at Conte’s previous success as a manager, it is safe to say that he is the perfect man for the job.
With a new manager, and Italian flavour is expected to be seen in Chelsea’s games. The first few months for the manager would be the testing part. He will have to experiment different tactics before reaching out on a conclusion. He will need to understand the entire environment of the Premier League. But before all those measures, he will have to add some fresh legs into the squad if he really tends to compete for the top spot.
It is obvious that the side needs to be rebuilt and that would be Conte’s priority task. For me, there is a need to add a senior figure in the side, who could guide the players in the right direction. In the last campaign, the team looked lost. It looked like they had no aim, no ambition and therefore, the results were poor.
Many-many players have been linked with a move to Chelsea, but few of them would agree to join due to the absence of European football. Club’s target man Miralem Pjanic joined Juventus, Morata is on his way to Madrid and it looks like Nainggolan’s speculation has no conclusion.
Now, it is now reported that Chelsea are currently linked with a move to Juventus’ striker Simeone Zaza. Well, that is surely a strange name in the list, who knows, the deal might work. Zaza joined Juventus last summer from the fellow Italian side Sassuolo, but his playing time was halted due to the Renaissance of Paulo Dybala, Alvaro Morata, and Mario Mandzukic.
The 24-year-old striker made just 19 appearances for the Old Lady and the majority of them came as a substitute. The former Sassuolo star might be tempted if Chelsea makes an offer, but some questions will be raised. Will he be a good buy for Chelsea?
To be perfectly honest, yes, he will! The major reason behind that would be working under Conte. Even in his limited appearance, he managed to net 5 goals. Zaza is a hard working Italian and possesses a strong left foot. Besides that, he is quick and has a natural eye for goal.
The versatile striker can be used as a lone striker as well as the second striker or sometimes as an attacking midfielder. He has a strong and muscular physique and that means that he won’t find it difficult to adjust his stay in the Premier League. He is a pure offensive player, who loves to charge forward in the counter runs.
He is usually praised for this off the ball technique which allows him to position himself at the right place at the right time. Now, looking at Chelsea’s current squad, besides Diego Costa, they do not have a perfect option. Loic Remy’s future is in doubt and Falcao will be going back to Monaco that means if Costa gets injured or suspended, the side will have to play without an attacker.
There is no doubt that Zaza will have to fight hard to conquer the first team spot, but the 24-year-old will be having all the time in the world to prove himself worthy of the position. In the initial stages, he might play a major role in Conte’s tactics as he is familiar with that, while the other players might take some time. The pacy and the versatile striker is just 24, and joining Chelsea would surely make better than ever.
