A lot of changes in the current Chelsea side is expected as the new Italian gaffer will take the charge of the Stamford Bridge outfit after the Euro 2016. After many years of world class experience in coaching, Antonio Conte will be facing one of the toughest tasks of his career. The London club was supposed to defend their English crown last season, but the side did the task with an utter disappointment.
And to be very honest, not just the manager, but the entire squad is to be equally blamed for that. So the priority task for the Italian will be; bringing back the confidence in the lads. As they won’t be entertaining any European games at the Bridge, the manager and the players can concentrate on the league.
Conte will have to assess his squad in and out and as he will be joining the side in July, he will have to work fast on his task. The arrival of Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho will surely make the league tougher and therefore, Chelsea fans should not expect positive results in a short span of time. Many players from the current squad are still uncertain about their future at the Bridge, and to cover that, Conte will have to bring some fresh faces into the side.
In a recent report from the Sun, it is reported that Chelsea are in pursuit to sign Newcastle United’s midfielder Moussa Sissoko. The French international has also received an offer from a German side, and if Chelsea wants to grab the player, they will have to work quickly.
Well, it is very much obvious that many players from the Newcastle side would be willing to move out of the side as to play in the top division and Moussa Sissoko is the very first name that popped out of the list. But is Sissoko a correct option for the Blues?
Well, as stated earlier, many players from the current squad are uncertain about their future and if all those rumors are confirmed, the 26-year-old French international might become a regular starter for the side, at least for the initial span.
Sissoko is known for his laborious efforts on the pitch and is capable of playing in almost every central midfield role. In his 4 years of tenure at the St. Jame’s Park, the Frenchman has already been used as a deep lying midfielder, central midfield, right winger and as an attacking midfielder.
Sissoko possesses a strong and muscular built that allows him to tackle the opponents in style. Besides that, the Frenchman has all the experience of the Premier League, and therefore, he could easily adjust in the side under Conte. With Fabregas playing as a central midfielder, Sissoko might play as a holding midfielder much often.
Well, it is also reported that Chelsea are eyeing a move for the Belgian international, Radja Nainggolan and if the move takes place, Sissoko might find it hard to set a firm hand in the staring squad, but the Frenchman would still play an important role in Conte’s plans. Sissoko was the engine of the Magpies, who drove the team forward and he could still do the same at the Bridge, but he might have to cut his playing time if the new signings are done.
Signing Sissoko to the Bridge can prove to be a worthy trade as the 26-year-old still has a lot more to show in his career.
