Chelsea’s fans are surely excited by the news that Antonio Conte will be taking over at Stamford Bridge, but the thing about the team not participating in the European fixtures will surely haunt them the entire season. Antonio Conte has a great reputation while dealing with transfers, and therefore, the side might welcome some big names in the coming transfer window.
Some might reject the offer, but anything is possible as we saw how Di Maria and Radamel Falcao accepted the offer to join Manchester United couple of season’s back even when the team didn’t qualify for the Champions League.
But before signing the players, the manager should not forget the fact that Chelsea already have a great squad that will return to Stamford Bridge after their loan spell gets over. Players like Lucas Piazon and Dominic Solanke are surely ready for first team action. Besides all of them, they still possess the right of the young Dutch midfielder Marco van Ginkel, who is nothing, but a ‘Forever-a-loan’ player for the London side.
Van Ginkel joined Chelsea in 2013 and made just 4 appearances in the season. September 1 2015, Marco Van Ginkel joined Serie A giants AC Milan on loan from Chelsea for the 2014–15 season. July 10, 2015; Van Ginkel joined Stoke City on loan for the 2015–16 season as part of a deal that saw goalkeeper Asmir Begović move to Chelsea. With the arrival of Giannelli Imbula at Stoke in February 2016, the club decided to cancel the Dutchman’s loan deal and following the cancellation he joined PSV on loan for the remainder of the season.
Well, that explains his entire condition with Chelsea. Despite joining the London club 3 years back, he has appeared just 4 times for the club. Talking about van Ginkel’s recent loan spell wit PSV; he marked 13 appearances to his name in just 4 months and bagged 8 goals and created 13 chances for the team.
The arrival of Antoino Conte has brought many rumors and the players like Radja Nainggolan, Pjanic and Paul Pogba are linked with a move to the club. The manager will surely be looking to sign top class midfielders and due to that, van Ginkel’s progress will be stalled. Van Ginkel is primarily a central midfielder, but due to his versatility, he can command the game from the deep lying midfield area. Despite his young age, he has shown a great maturity on the pitch. His technical awareness is superb and that allows him to guide the team from the midfield area.
He also possesses the never ending stamina and is known for his work-rate. Just after signing for the Dutch side PSV, he played 15 games including the domestic league and the Champions League and was not substituted or came on as one even once.
Speaking about his career at Chelsea, I don’t think he would fit the plans of Antonio Conte. He will always be used as an option behind the star studded midfield of the club. The 23-year-old Dutch playmaker had a wonderful career in the Netherlands, where he helped his side to lift the 23rd Eredivisie title this year. He will surely come in handy if PSV decides to make this deal a permanent one and that would be a blessing in disguise for the player as well as the club.
