The last time Chelsea bought a striker from Liverpool, it did not turn out so well for the Blues and the incoming boss Antonio Conte will hope not to repeat the same.
The Times has reported that Conte is considering a move for Christian Benteke in the summer. The manager is keen to deploy 4-3-3 system that he is comfortable with and would like to have at least two strikers up front. As a result, he would want to add another competent striker to his line up and a move for a striker is definite this summer.
Benteke has had an indifferent season scoring 10 goals in 43 appearances in all competition. He was a prolific striker at Aston Villa and has not been able to recapture his form at Liverpool. While Jurgen Klopp is ready to sell the striker, Chelsea needs to decide if Benteke is the right person to partner with Diego Costa. Other possible names that have been shortlisted are Alvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku.
