The French Starlet Or The Argentine Goalscoring Scoring Machine: Who Should Chelsea Sign?

Roman Abrahimovic and the board faces it’s toughest task in the coming summer transfer window. Never have such a situation came to the fore when there would be no European games at Stamford Bridge, which might become a problem for the arrival of new faces. No doubt many new faces are needed to improve the squad and make the club challenging for the top again, targets should be identified and their services should be secured as early in the summer as possible.

A star name’s arrival can galvanize the whole fan base and with the arrival of Antonio Conte, the gap left by Jose Mourinho of a top drawer manager is filled. Conte brings new hope to the supporters and his regime might take Chelsea to new heights. Conte will look to Serie A to bring new proven players and along with a center back, a striker is badly needed at the club. Falcao and Remy are going to be offloaded in the summer, that just leaves Diego Costa the only recognised striker and a world class striker is needed in the summer.

Chelsea need a 25 goal a season striker who can take the responsibility of scoring important goals in big games. Gonzalo Higuain is one name that can add to the glitz at Stamford Bridge and though he will come at a high cost, The blues need a big signing to warn the rivals about the seriousness of Chelsea competing at the top. Higuain has been in scintillating form this campaign and has scored a staggering 34 goals this campaign and has led Napoli to a Champions League place. His overall game has improved this season and in the modern world of football where proper no.9s have become such a rarity, Gonzalo Higuain offers a more conventional Orthodox approach.

The Argentine has been criticized for his misses for his national team but he has risen from the criticism and has improved leaps and bounds this season. Also his time at Real Madrid was not as he would have expected and after the arrival of Karim Benzema, he was sold. To rise from setbacks all his career, Higuain has shown lot of mental strength to become one of the most sought after strikers in the game. Chelsea will need to splash a lot of cash and Higuan has expressed his desire to play in the Premier League and Stamford Bridge offers the perfect place to prove himself in England.

Another player that is linked to the club is Atletico Madrid’s talisman, Antonio Griezmann. The Frenchman has rose to prominence since joining the Rojiblancos, and is one of the main reasons behind Madrid’s success this season. He was a left winger in his time at Real Sociedad and has played in a lot of positions under Diego Simeone. He shows immense work rate and is perfect for counter attacks. His blistering pace, sleek passes and coll finished are a sight to behold at times.

He has scored 31 goals this season and is behind Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo. Though he is a world class potential with his best yet to come, Chelsea’s need of the hour is a striker who can win the league with 20-30 goals season. Having Eden Hazard and Willian make it difficult for Griezmann to adjust in the side, and with Conte playing 4-3-3, he won’t like to see either of Hazard or Willian to lose their place after what they have done for the Club. Griezmanm can become one of the best players in the world, but at this moment, the blues don’t need him and should definitely go all out to sign the Argentine, Gonzalo Higuain.
