Piet de Visser has told the media that the Chelsea scouting team does not expect Romelu Lukaku to return to Stamford Bridge.
The Belgian striker has expressed his interest to play at a better club after Everton are currently at a struggling situation in the Premier League. In a discussion with Het Laatste Nieuws the scout said that the player is significantly better than Christian Benteke and he would pop open a bottle of wine if Lukaku returned to Chelsea.
The player has scored 25 goals this season and looks almost certain to leave Goodison Park in the summer. While Chelsea are interested in signing back the youngster they let go, the player has expressed interest to play in Champions League which is not going be in the Chelsea’s calendar in the coming season. The player’s valuation is around £50m and not many clubs will be willing to shell out that kind of money for a striker though.
Visser was quoted saying, “He’s no Wayne Rooney. Lukaku is in my eyes a class better than Benteke. Romelu is ready for a next step in the summer. I would like to see him with better players around him. Does he have to return to Chelsea? I would down a bottle of wine if De Bruyne and Lukaku ever sign for Chelsea again.”
