Atletico Madrid has now officially expressed their interest in signing Diego Costa back. For almost half the season now there has been heavy speculation about the player’s future and now the Atletico president Enrique Cerezo has come out and spoken about the club’s intention.
He has mentioned that the club has a good relation with Diego Costa and despite him being at a good club the lack of Champions League football next season is inevitable for the Spanish striker. That is something Atletico will be able to offer to the player. He also said that while signing him back will be a difficult task the club would nonetheless like to try and see if they can get their ex-striker back.
Diego Costa joined Chelsea two seasons ago and had a fantastic first season where he won the English Premier League. During his stint with Atletico, he had won the La Liga and Atletico were Champions League runner-up.
