As per reports from Metro, Diego Costa has spoken to his old team-mates at Atletico Madrid and informed them that he wants to go back to Vicente Calderon. The striker joined Chelsea from Atletico last season and is not happy with the situation at Stamford Bridge.
Costa helped Chelsea win the Premier League title on his first season upon arrival with an impressive goal scoring feat. However, this season the Spaniard has struggled to find the form of previous season and Chelsea are unlikely to make it to Champions League. That is speculated to be another reason for the player wanting to leave – in order to play Champions League.
Chelsea is about to undergo a major face-lift in the summer and we may see several players leaving the club including their manager. The current manager Guus Hiddink will make way for Antonio Conte and the Italian may not be too keen on making Costa a regular player for the Blues.
