Conte’s Shock Transfer Demand Means That Chelsea’s Long Term Target Is Not An Option Anymore

Antonio Conte is the favorite name to become the next Chelsea manager in the summer and as per Daily Star the Italian will tell Chelsea not to sign John Stones. The Everton defender was a major target for the Blues last summer and still said to be drawing interest from London. However the Italian boss is set to stop the pursuit of Stones and focus on Leonardo Bonucci.

As per the report Conte is not very convinced with Stones even though the defender has had a stellar season last year and done extremely well this season so far. While it will come as a shock to many Chelsea fans it is very normal for new coaches to recruit their compatriot when they join a new club. This has been seen with Mourinho when he first came to Chelsea, Wenger when he came to Arsenal and Van Gaal when he arrived at Manchester United. Given the interest that Stones has racked up, it will not take much time before one of the English giants take him.
