John Terry, 35, has announced that he will be leaving the club when his contract runs out this summer. The player has spent his whole career at Chelsea and is considered one of the greatest defenders to have ever played for England. Now with him calling time with his love affair with the Blues, there may be other competitors who are lurking in the dark to snatch him.
The player is 35 years old, but in no way can be said to be unfit for top level football. At least not yet. One of the clubs speculated to take a dig at him is Arsenal. The Gunners and the Blues have shared the kind of rivalry due to the fact that both are from London and the earlier Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho loved to criticize Arsene Wenger.
At this point it does not seem to be possible but then we saw Petr Cech moving to Arsenal and Frank Lampard to Manchester City and it will be naive of us to rule out a move completely.
Terry is an experienced defender with exceptional positional sense and will easily replace Per Mertesacker. And also given that he and Cech has a very good understanding built over the years, he may be an excellent addition to Arsenal. Chelsea fans will hate it, but Arsene Wenger is known to love these kind of cut price deals.
