L’Equipe, the French publication has reported that Chelsea and Manchester City will be battling for the West Ham midfielder, Dimitri Payet. The French midfielder moved from Olympique Marseille and has performed exceptionally for the club for the fee of £10.8 million.
Payet is currently in a contract talk with West Ham. It was reported that an unnamed Chinese club bid £38 million for the midfielder and £7 million a year salary. Post that the club is trying to improve the contract in order to tie down the player.
The Mirror reported that Payet’s agent has asked for a £125,000 a week salary for his client even though the Frenchman has a five year deal with the Hammers. He has scored six goals and given four assist so far in this season. The number is even more impressive considering he has started just 17 games and plays as a midfielder.
Now if West Ham are unable to provide him with the demanded offer, then he may find his desired number in Etihad or Stamford Bridge.
